A Blog for the Bloggers....
Well, here it is, my turn to blog. During our trip here to visit Joey, we were able to come up and see Jonathan and his family twice. I am, as I type, sitting here in his room with David and Sharon, Joey, Dennis, Julie Workman and Melissa Higgins (two of our friends). I am hestitant to Blog as it really really IS intimidating, but I know that when others came here, I longed for some news, and so here I am.
Jonathan looks great. They say he has put on a few more pounds recently and he looks nice and healthy. Wanting to help him with his quest to pack on some extra Lbs, We, (me, Dennis, Joey and Melissa) brought a homemade Baked Ziti, filled with protein laden cheese and sausage. (I know, I know, "WHAT?" you say, "Vegetarians cooking sausage???" .....but THIS was for JD!!) I watched him eat a huge portion, and he either liked it, or is a really good liar. It made me feel so good to be able to be a part of his recovery.
Now for the current "Jonathan" news from the Pres....
Jonathan continues to walk twice a day without his cane and is continuing his physical therapy. His grafts are healing well, but still have a bit to go. The plan is to discharge him from the burn unit and move him up to acute rehab here at the Pres.
OK, I have just been busted by the nurse for using the in room computer, (even tho, I got the OK from David....) and I have to close.
Keep the prayers, love and cards coming. Everyone here appreciates it all so much.
thinking of you all,
ginge

Well, Shaubs, imagine JD and the ziti!!! It has not been long since nourishment was IV.
Ginge, there is nothing intimidating about the blogging. You just become accustomed to talking to the world. I can tell you there are so many things I want to know about the bloggers other than what we are reading. It has been almost overwhelming not to be able to just sit down and eyeball to eyeball talk to all you faithful bloggers. I know this has meant the world and then some to the Shaub family.
I continue to raise up the entire family in my prayers. Jonathan, you are topmost in my prayers for your healing, comfort and peace. I have continually prayed for your caregivers. They have just HAD to be impressed by all the support you have had and your immense faith.
God is good and He is faithful. This is His day, let's rejoice and be glad!
Love to all of you in NYC,
Nan
What wonderful news!!! So glad Jonathan is able to walk every day. We know he is thankful for friends and family who care for him so much. We continue to pray for all of you daily, and are so thankful for each day of progress. Thank you for the update. David and Sylvia, Jackson, TN
Jonathan and family,
I am so proud of Jonathan and all of you for that matter!! You are all inspirations to me and I praise God for the way He is being glorified through this ordeal. Sharon, I praise and thank the Lord for your faithfulness and quiet, compassionate care for your sweet boy. David, I know it has been hard to physically be in Nashville and have your heart and mind in New York. Nicole and Megan, I praise God that Jonathan has two sisters from whom to gain strength, joy, and encouragement in his daily battle. I know I like to ramble but I just wanted to say that your struggle is not going unnoticed by God or by the Body of Christ. He is preparing all of you for incredible things. Through the fruit of this battle Jonathan and your entire immediate family will produce and proclaim eternal things for the Kingdom of God. Your family will be richly rewarded for the way you have persevered and claimed victory through Jesus. Be blessed as you continue to fight, day by day, moment by moment.

Thank you for the blog, Ginge. However intimidating, you did a very good job and we who follow the site regularly love any news from anyone. I, like Nan, wonder so much about those who write. Jonathan, when you are able to come home, we will all have a big party for you and maybe finally meet one another. I'm glad to hear you are gaining weight and walking, but especially that you will be able to stay at the Pres. Did Ginge mean for all your rehab? That would be so great for your mom since the apt. is close by.
Our church Care Group met tonight and we prayed for you, especially that you would heal soon, so that you may begin rehab full force. I just wanted you to know that people you don't even know are still praying for you and your famiy.
I know it's nice that the whole family is up there together again for a few days. You all remain daily in my prayers.
Love,
Elisabeth
Jonathan, you're such a molodets!! I'm so glad to hear the great news that come from each blog. Slava Bogu!
I thank our Lord for healing you and holding your hand each day.
We all love you lots.
Galka.
Ginge here again,
Elizabeth asked about JDs rehab. At this point, the plan is for JD to stay at the inpatient rehab at the Pres....that might change but it looks good right now. You are right, that would be great because the apt. is only 6 blocks away and eventually when JD is in outpatient rehab, it would mean HE would be living only 6 blocks away too. Keep in your prayers for this to work out.
I hated to cut out from my Blog so quickly, but the nurse who came in gave me a scolding........YIKES!!
It was so good to see all of the Shaubs (well, we missed Nicole) and to give hugs all around. I gave them all of your love too. It seems that at the beginning of this ordeal, the movement forward was a quarter inch here, an eight inch there....but now it seems like JD is taking leaps forward, and even tho there is still much of the marathon left, he is getting stonger and stronger as he moves forward.
Hopefully sometime this summer, he will be able to come back to Nashville for a visit, and we all can give him those hugs we long to give.
To the Shaubs:
I hope our visit was refreshing for you and that we conveyed our love and concern. It was wonderful to be able to put our real arms around you and kiss JDs forehead.
That is all for now.
With much thanksgiving at the progress made,
ginge
Glad to read this. Mmmm, that ziti sounds good! Vegetarians? I didn't know.
I hope and pray that spirits are high at the Pres today!
We are so glad to hear this very good news. Nivki Church keeps praying and we are thankful to all those who have blogged.
I can only agree with Galya's earlier "slava Bogu"--praise the Lord!
Wish we could be there to feed him some vareniky and goluptsi!

Jonathan, you don't know us from Adam's housecat (maybe you know Fred and Gayle Holladay - used to be members of OC..my husband is Fred's brother) but we keep in touch via computer and Don visited with your Dad at the Lipscomb golf tourney. You are in our prayers at all times. We love the notes from the gang on this site. Wild and wooly at times but fun. Keep up the good work. Rita Holladay
Jonathan,

I am so amazed at your fast progress Jonathan. I knew you would out do what the doctors said, but I had not idea you would do it in such a dramatic fashion.
Your spirit is unstoppable!
Love Tony, Anita, and Maria
Still hoping, waiting, and praying!
Thanks Ginger for the info!
Jonathan, keep healing!
Love to all

Dear Shaubs and whoever else is there today,
I am praising God for Jonathan’s progress! I continue to be confident that he will be like the little engine that could and make it over the mountain. His willingness to work hard will be very important in the coming weeks.
Kudos to Nicole on graduating even with the huge distractions of the past few months! You Shaubs are amazing folks.
I hope y’all have a wonderful week together and that Jonathan gets stronger every day. We continue to pray for all of you.
God bless your day today,
Lynn
Shaub...
Congratulations! I'm so proud of you! I am so thankful for what the Lord has done in your life - your healing is a miracle.
I can't imagine what you must feel every day as you struggle through and push to work harder in your therapy. Keep on working hard and know that the Lord is still in complete control of your recovery.
You are a strong man and I can't wait to hear how your hard work continues to pay off.
Much love and prayers,
ashley ray
Dear Shaub Family:
How wonderful to hear the news that Jonathan continues to progress. It seems that many prayers have been answered and I will continue to pray for him and his family for strength in days to come. I know he is glad to be able to get out of his bed and walk and in time you will all look back on this ordeal and say, "We could not have gone through all that except for the grace of God."
I am so happy for all of you and pray Jonathan will continue to gain strength.
